October 11th 2026 - Death in Libra 🍂♎
Share
Welcome to the first entry in a new blog series I'm hoping to keep up with! My personal relationship with crystals has been largely grounded and tactile, noting from a practical perspective the uses and correlations based on color theory, how the stones are formed and what shape, if any, they've been formed into. It's a useful baseline when speaking to others and answering questions about which stones are good for what, but it tends to leave me feeling like an observer more than an expert despite the years I've spent handling and learning about the hundreds of crystals that have passed through my little office. My goal with these posts is to reflect and start connecting with the stones on a deeper level and incorporate them into my life beyond simply sending them off to their forever homes. With that said, let's dig in!
XIII Death in Libra 💀⚖️
A fitting card for a first pull! By now it's fairly common knowledge even outside of more metaphysical circles that Death isn't an omen of impending doom, quite the opposite actually. The Death card invites us to shed what's weighing us down and no longer serving us so that we can emerge in our next phase of life unburdened.
The Death card is ruled by Scorpio, which can be at odds with the harmonious vibes Sun in Libra gives us. This combination reminds us that real, effective change can't always be achieved through gentle compromise -- sometimes a bridge or two need to be burned. It'll be uncomfortable, but the Death card encourages us gracefully release our people-pleasing habits in an effort to be our most authentic selves. We have to drop what doesn't align with us anymore if we want to find equilibrium.
Crystal Allies ✨
Ammonite
Fossils are the literal alchemy of time, organic life slowly replaced over millions of years by minerals that last forever. The spiral shape of ammonite visually and energetically reflects natural cycles, endings that bring about fresh beginnings, reminding us that transformation is a beautiful and constant progression rather than something sudden and scary. Ammonite can act as a talisman of personal evolution, something to wheel us along to the future when we're afraid of releasing the past.
Snowflake Obsidian
Snowflake obsidian is formed from natural volcanic glass that cooled with needle-like cristobalite inclusions, creating this striking white on black stone that symbolizes light in the darkness. In the challenges that Death presents us, it's easy to feel confused and lost, but snowflake obsidian opens up our paths forward and protects us from falling off of it. Use this stone to sever energetic ties to old habits and clear out mental clutter. Keep this stone nearby to touch during moments of hesitation, or on your desk as you journal.
Malachite
Malachite is a powerful stone of transformation, with bold, concentric stripes that represent peeling away old layers to reveal the truth underneath. In the context of Scorpio-ruled Death colliding with peace-making Sun in Libra, malachite gives us strength to deal with hard truths and offers us the uncompromising honesty we need to cut through indecision, let go of outgrown commitments and feel empowered as we make intentional changes to be our most authentic selves. Wear this stone or keep it in your pocket during important conversations and transition points to help you enforce your boundaries and prevent falling back on stale habits.

I wish I could promise any specific schedule, but I know myself -- balancing blog posts with the rest of my responsibilities is gonna be a challenge all on its own. I'll shoot for several a week, and I hope you'll join me!
In the meantime, be well! 💜💚
